Ladies, can you believe it? I actually made something else than a Mandela.

I found this pretty red and white striped cotton yarn

and knew right away what I wanted to make with it.

The design is my own

and I think it came out pretty good.

Here is my bag hanging next to my favorite bird.....

.....you know the one I mean, haha

Playing around

As I mentioned yesterday, I have been playing around with a little bit of crochet this past week. Mostly little things. I am trying to decide on what my goal is for this month. On June 7th I will participate in a Crafts Show in a nearby town. Two of my crafty friends and I will share a big booth and we will certainly have many different items for sale, from weaving, knitting and crochet.

So now preparations have to be made, from having a pop-up tent, to chairs, table coverings, displays, baskets and much more. Everything has to be neatly washed and priced.

At this point I would really like to ask all of you for your opinions. From your own experiences, what kind of things sell the best at crafts shows? I have some basic standby's like Dishcloth, Potholders, and such, but otherwise I am just not sure what kind of things I should still be making up this month. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks!

52 Week Crochet Challenge Week #9

Here we are again on another Wednesday and another challenge has arrived. I am really enjoying these challenges. It makes you think about things in different ways and I got to say, I am also learning from others in how to maybe do things different and more organized.

Organize your patterns this week. Do you have a special system for your patterns? Can you find a specific pattern easily?

Personally I store my patterns in 4 different ways. One of them is ravelry, which I just recently started, because for some reason I missed that you can do that. The next would be my computer. I have a seperate folder in which I keep all patterns, listed by their name.

#3 would be the Magazine holders,

in which I keep crochet magazines

and also patterns that I have printed out.

#4 I have a cabinet, that is just for 

crochet books and other crochet related items.

I do have more crochet books, but they are on my 

bookshelf in the living room. Been thinking of moving them 

here as well, so I have everything in one place.

I guess you could say, this is one area I am really organized.

On another note I would like to say here, that my prayers go out to all who have been effected by the nasty tornadoes and storms over the last few days. Sadly it is just the beginning of Tornado season, but hopefully they will not be to bad this year. Everybody in the effected areas, please stay safe and please listen when they tell you to take cover. I have seen one Tornado up close and it wasn't pretty.

Craft Project

Once a month the ladies of my church get together to do something crafty. Last week was no exception. This time we made something for the outdoors, something colorful and fun. I thought I would share it with you.

What can you make with a straw hat and a few little 

clay flowerpots?

Well, have you guessed yet?

Those really bright colors were mine.

The next one belong to one of the other ladies.

You can tell how different our tastes are.

And now the finished project.

Sorry the picture is not the best, as the light was pretty lousy,

but you get the idea.

They all came out so cute. 

Every one of them different.

They will make great additions to our front porches,

don't you think.

Well fun was had by all.

Next month we are going to make some 

Hypertufa.

Will share that with you when the time comes.

52 Week Crochet Challenge - Week 5

Hello my lovely Friends. It is Wednesday once again and another week, another challenge is here.

This week the challenge was to learn a new stitch. Well something I have never done was the Tunisian Basic Stitch. I had thought about learning many different times, but it never came about. This time I only made a sample, because I just don't need to start another project, as I have to many going already and I am trying very hard to limit myself and to finish what I have started already.

The Tunisian Stitch is not hard to do, but I must admit, it felt really odd at first to have such a long needle in my hand, one that wasn't a knitting needle. The first few rows I was rather clumsy at going about it, but than it got easier as the rows came along. It is certainly something I will do again and make a complete project with.

Here is the completed sample.

I did steam it, so it would lay down uncurled.

The backside looks as if it is knitted.

Mandel-A-Long - Mandela 1

Hallo my lovely Friends. Hope this finds you all well.

First I would like to say Thank You for all the lovely comments you have left on my posts. They are really appreciated. I am currently working on finding out why I can't answer each of you individually. Hope to solve that problem soon. But I would like to answer one particular question here now, which was if I had a pattern for my Tulpen Garden. No I am sorry I do not, I made it up as I went along. I really need to to learn to write my patterns down, so I can share them later. That would be a new experience for me, as I have never done that yet. When I get a chance, I will sit down and try to write one by recounting what I did.


Now to today's project. I have decided to join a Mandel-A-Long at Lazy Daisy Jones's blog. Here is the link. Everybody is welcome to join and show of their accomplishments. So why not give it a try?

The pattern for this Mandela I found here . It is a very good tutorial and easy to follow. I enjoyed making it very much. Now I am looking forward to making others to join my collection.
