52 Week Crochet Challenge Week 7 & Week 8

Week 7: Now that your yarn is nicely organized, make a scrappy yarn project.

Week 8: This week your challenge is to go through any unfinished projects you've had sitting around and either work it or frog it. If you don't have any unfinished projects (really?), then show us what you are working on.

Since I missed out on last weeks challenge due to my not having any internet, I thought I would combine these two weeks into one. I also thought these challenges kinda, sorta fit together anyway.

I had three colors of yarn rolled up in little scrappy balls,
left over from other projects: white, light pink and dark pink.
So I decided to turn them into a Baby Afghan made from a giant Granny.
I had started it weeks ago, but never finished it.
So here now it is finally done, lol.

Since I don't have any babies around me currently, Pooh Bear had to
model instead.

Here Pooh Bear said he was to tired and just couldn't sit up any longer.

Pooh Bear giving you all the biggest smile he could muster.

As a finish I added a ruffle all the way around,
at which point I actually ran out of scrappy yarn.

Now to find a "Happy Baby" to give it to.

My Hall of Shame Projects

Well my friends you will remember me talking about all my unfinished projects
around here......My Hall of Shame, I call it.
Today I thought I would show you what it consists of.

This is the first Afghan

 This would be Afghan #2

Afghan #3....The Granny Square

Afghan #4......The Ripple

Afghan #5.....plain striped (this is a request)

Afghan #6..... Granny Stripe ala Attic 24

My shawl Elise

What do you think? Is that not a Hall of Shame?
Will they ever be finished?
???????

Grumpy Kitty says:" Please don't look down on my mommy because
she has so many unfinished projects. She can't help herself. If she sees something
new and exciting she has to try it. I have been trying to keep her of Pinterest
so she quits finding all those exciting projects and finishes what
she has started, but to no avail. It is hopeless, I think.
Maybe if you all encouraged her to work on the old stuff first,
maybe I would get a Blankie to sleep and leave my hair on.
So would you please help me out? Pleaassseee!!!"

Reminder: You can all still sign up for my give-away here until Sunday the 16th of March and we will pull a winner on Monday the 17th of March. So please go ahead and enter.

Till next time my friends from my neck of the woods. Have a wonderful sunny and happy weekend!

Olympics

Hallo Friends! The weekend is here. Do I hear many "Yay, finally"?

Well the time has come again for the Olympic Winter Games. Are you watching? Personally I love the winter Olympics better than the summer one. So far I have been glued to the TV since Thursday night, when they had the first competitions started. Last night I than watched the Opening Ceremonies. Quite a beautiful show and very Russian, I thought.

Now my dilemma. As some of you may know, I am a German girl living in the USA. So who do I root for?

Hmmm, tuff decision. Or maybe just simple......Let's just root for both!

Both countries have very large teams
and it should make for interesting competition.
Either way, I am just very much looking forward to seeing it.
My favorite is Ice Skating.
What is yours?

But I am not just sitting idle watching the Tube, but I actually got something crocheted for my house. I needed some new one's. The old one's were showing a lot of wear and tear and started to look plain yucky. Well you probably guessed it already, it was some more pot holders. I always seem to make them for other people and it was about time I made some to pretty up my own house.

Now I would like to wish you all a wonderful and relaxing weekend!
Till next time.......

A Snowy Sunday

Happy Sunday to you All!

Thought I would pop by and tell you what I have been up to this weekend. At the moment it is snowing out, big white fluffy flakes. It is very pretty, but for our neck of the woods not so good. Living in such a rural area brings challenges with it. We don't have a snow or salt truck around here clearing the roads, so they become icy and slick in a hurry. We are supposed to get 2 to 3 inches, which isn't really a lot, but enough to make it bad on all the rural roads. Hope it doesn't get to bad, as I am supposed to go to work tonight.

Sorry the pictures are not the best, but you get the idea.
Lots more on the ground since these were taken an hour ago.

It's also Super Bowl Sunday. As I am not a football fan, it doesn't affect me to much, but I already heard a few wives complaining about what's to come. Are you a fan? Will you be watching? And will you do something crafty while doing so?

I also baked some fresh bread today. Started the dough yesterday and let it sit overnight. Oh it came out so good. Had me a fresh slice a little while ago, with some fresh butter and a couple of cheesy eggs. So yummy!

Doesn't that look good?
It's a Rye/Wheat combination.

As for my afternoon I will be spending it watching a couple of German movies and sewing in threads for a granny square blanket that has been on the back burner for some time and really, really needs to finally be finished. Sewing in the thread is always my least favorite of things to do, and I therefor procrastinate doing so. But no more. I really need to finish some projects that have been sitting here for a while, so I can show them off to you all.

Otherwise it is Downton Abbey night and I will be working on my shawl, hopefully finishing it. Working on the border now, so it shouldn't be to much more. Looking forward to my favorite show to see what happens next.

That's it for my little report for today. Hope you all stay nice, warm and snugly! Till next time......

The Tuesday Question & a new Square

Good Morning my lovely Friends. Tuesday has come around again and with it the "Tuesday Question". I am hoping to hear some answer from you all. The Information can be good for all of us. Thanks!

As I am planning on joining a few craft shows this spring and summer, I am interested to find out how many of you have participated in craft shows and what kind of tips and tricks you have learned. What do I need to look out for? Have you noticed what kind of crafts sell the best? How important is location? How important is the set up?

Please share your experiences with the rest of us!

Today's Square: It's a Heart within a Square and crocheted in two different colors. Hope you like it.

Talk to you all again soon. Happy Tuesday!

Tuesday Question and Square # 4

Another Tuesday has come around and here we are again with our Tuesday Question:

Today I am wondering about how everybody stores their crafts, yarn and other materials? Are you organized or do you keep your stuff in many different places. I am also curious if you have a dedicated area in which you craft, like a favorite chair, etc.?

I am currently redoing my own crafts room. I purchased some more clear storage containers on rollers. They can also be stacked for convenience. Also I bought myself a folding table on which to set my sewing machine and when not needed can be easily stored in the closet.

As for a comfy place to sit, I have a nice recliner in which I love to sit, when time permits (which sadly isn't often).

Square #4 is done also. As the last time I found that the yarn was to thick again. I guess I have to be more thoughful as what yarn to use, before I get started. But it is a good lesson learned.

Sorry the next picture is a little fuzzy

Weather wise it is a bit warm for this time of the year, around 70F, with storms predicted for the afternoon and coming night. We do need the rain, but I hope it won't get to bad.

Hi ho, hi ho, so off to work I go!  So I will see you lovely ladies sometime soon. You all have a good day now!

Tuesday Question and an Update

Good Morning Dear Friends!

It's still pretty chilly in my neck of the woods. Apparently we will have to live with that a while longer. Oh well.

Here now to the Tuesday Question:

How do you all find your pattern instructions? On Craftsy, Pinterest, Ravelry or maybe a craft web site? Which ones do you find easiest to use? Or do you buy magazines and books? Or do you maybe trade patterns with other crafters?

Personally I love Ravelry for many of the patterns I like, but I also use Pinterest a lot now, but find that I can't always find the pattern for something I pinned. I also do have a large book and magazine collection. I know they take up quite a bit of room, but I just love to look through them from time to time and just drink in the beautiful colors and designs.

My little update:

For a while now (maybe long while), I have been working on these granny squares for a blanket. Here are the ones I made in the evenings lately. I think I might just have enough of the now to finally finish this blanket.

Funny how the one in the middle looks brown
on the picture, because it is really
dark grey

And here I am finally starting to put all the
little squares together.
Don't I look comfy?

And a little last note for today......

Don't you think that is how it works?

You all have a nice day!

Tuesday Question and a new Square

Happy Tuesday everybody!

Today's Question is

Ponchos, weather crochet or knitted, are still totally IN. Have you all made one yet or do you have plans on making one in the future? Do you think they are practical or not really your thing?

I made one a long time ago. Wish I still had a picture of it. Currently I am thinking about making another one, but I am wondering how long they will still be in style.

Today's Square I found here . I made it in 2 colors on purpose. Where the yellow ends, you could consider it a finished square, but you could continue and make the last 2 rounds, which I crocheted in orange. I made it with regular 4-ply yarn, but it gets to big that way. So I would say it needs to be crocheted with 2-ply yarn to give it a better look.

Here now the finished product:

It looks so red on the picture, but it really was orange, lol

Now hoping you all have a wonderful Tuesday!

Tuesday Question and a little something else

Good Morning my Lovelies! Wow, my coffee sure tastes good this morning. As I have a busy day ahead, I can really used a little bit of extra kick.

Haven't done this in a while, but thought I would start it back up: The Tuesday Question -

- Why do you Blog and how did you get started doing it?
- What is your motivation and what do you love to blog about the most?

And here is my little something else: I made myself a promise this year and that is to try many new things in crocheting, knitting or general crafting. All things I haven't done or tried before. I been crocheting for many, many years, but honestly haven't tried to make different kinds of Granny Squares, just pretty much the standard one used for everything. Well the time has come to try some different ones. So every week I will make one new pattern. Here is the first one:

So what do you all think? Did it come out ok?

Talk to you all later!

Countdown

Yes, yes it is that time of the year again and the Countdown to CHRISTMAS begins. Am I ready for it? NO and no again, but it doesn't change the fact it's coming. So we might as well get into the Spirit of things and start somewhere, which I guess would be the beginning.

So today I actually have a little TAH-DAH...... yes, what do you think of that? I finished my first Christmas Present. I can't mention who it is for here, because that person might read my blog, but showing it of I can. So here without further ado:

She loves really bright colors

The Back

I just loved these little buttons

One more look at it

What you think of that green Border?

As finish my little post here, I would like to ask all of you: What is on your needle or needles for the upcoming holiday?

Until the next time my friends........
