Craft Project

Once a month the ladies of my church get together to do something crafty. Last week was no exception. This time we made something for the outdoors, something colorful and fun. I thought I would share it with you.

What can you make with a straw hat and a few little
clay flowerpots?

Well, have you guessed yet?
Work in progress.....

Those really bright colors were mine.

The next one belong to one of the other ladies.
You can tell how different our tastes are.

And now the finished project.
Sorry the picture is not the best, as the light was pretty lousy,
but you get the idea.

They all came out so cute.
Every one of them different.
They will make great additions to our front porches,
don't you think.

Well fun was had by all.
Next month we are going to make some
Hypertufa.
Will share that with you when the time comes.

Hallo and Welcome to this "Grow your Blog" Party

Welcome and please come in. First I would like to say a big Thanks to Vicki at 2 Bags Full for hosting this wonderful Blog Party for us little Crafters who are still in need of growing our blogs. It's very much appreciated.

My name is Erika and I for the moment live in rural northern Arkansas. I am single (divorced) and in my mid-fifties.I share my house with four lovely critters, two doggies, a Yorkie named Gidget and a Shit-Zhu named Seffi, and two cats, one boy named Picaso and one female named Sissi (my little grumpy cat).

My adventures into crafting started when I was a wee little bit, around 5 or 6. I was very lucky to have had a loving and very patient Granny to take the time to teach me things from sewing to crocheting and knitting. They have become a live long love for me. Originally I come from Germany, but I have enjoyed live in the USA for over 35 years now

For a living I work as a Caregiver for Alzheimer, Cancer and Heart Patients. For that reason I work a lot of odd hours and also can't blog as much as I once did. But I love what I do and so that is ok.

I started blogging to keep a record of some of the things I was making and doing in my life. I also just loved to browse through all the other lovely blogs out there with their wonderful colorful crafts. They inspire me and encourage me to do better. My first love is crochet, but I also knit, sew, loom and yes even a little painting.

One of the things I collect is Coca-Cola and for that reason you will see many crafts on my blog made around the colors of red, white and black. My living room is arranged around this collection, which is steadily growing. I just love it!

So now how about it little give-away for all the lovely people joining this blog party? You want to know what it is? Well I think I will keep that a secret for a little while longer, but I promise it will be something everyone will enjoy. Hint: it will be something I have sewn or crocheted. Everybody is welcome to participate.

The Catch: Please leave a comment at the end of this blog post by February 14, 2014 and hopefully I will pull your name out of the hat that day.

Now I will grab a good cup of Java and go browsing around all your lovely blogs. Hope you stay a while on mine and look around. I hope you see something you like and it makes you come back for another look.

Wishing you all a wonderful day! Until we see each other again..........

Something different

Hallo again! Hope this finds you well.

Lately I have been in the mood to try my hands at new things, including painting and Quilting, maybe even some Jewelry making. There are so many beautiful crafts out there and I been feeling like I am stuck in a rut and am not trying new experiences. Do you ever feel like that?

Well to start off with I played a little with my paint brushes and this is what was the end result. Needs a lot more work, but I am pleased with the results. It now hangs in my living room.

Until soon my friends!

Something different......

Hallo again..... As I mentioned in my previous post, I almost didn't work on anything but the dishcloth. Now I have a huge stack sitting here, in all different colors. One thing I still have to do is sew in the ends and make 4 more and 2 colors I haven't used so far. Pictures will follow in a couple of days, as I still have to sew in the ends before they are completely done.

I did work on something completely different in the last two days. Something I used to love to do in the past, but hadn't done in about 5 years or so. I had almost forgotten how much fun I used to have making them, but that will change in the future and more projects will see the light of day. You are probably wondering what the heck I am talking about. OK.....I will show it to you. Hope you like it.

Well....what do you think? Now I didn't do the cutting out part, that my friend Anita did, but I did the painting and it took me 2 days to complete. Anita also did the sanding and assembly. She does some nice wood work, don't you think? It was so much fun to do that again. I will have these in my shop shortly as well.

The next one Anita made all the way. It is a little different and she has already hung hers in the kitchen.

The next 2 pictures are of something I will try over the next few days.....something I have not tried in the past, but always wanted to. Have you done anything like that before?

With this I will leave you for today and hope  have a great evening!
