A new Beginning & While I am watching Downton Abbey, Part 1

The new year 2014 has arrived and with that I thought it would be a good time to restart my blog.

Sadly 2013 was not a good year for me, neither personal, health wise or professionally. For that reason blogging and crafting took a back seat.

Finally over the last few weeks the urge to return to crafting has grabbed me ever so slowly and we will make a fresh start and hope that 2014 will be a wonderfully productive and fun year.

Hope yours will be the Best as well!!!

Over a snowed in weekend in December 2013 I went into a knitting and looming frenzy to make a few Christmas presents. The following is the result of it. All in all I made 8 hats that weekend, not all pictured. They were well received on Christmas morning and are now keeping a few heads and ears warm with this cold flash we are currently having.

Last night one of my favorite shows returned here in the states with it's premier. Many of you are probably enjoying this show as well. From what I hear there are groups out there with people who are watching this show together and or crafting together. How Fun! Which show am I talking about, you ask? Well it is "Downton Abbey" of course. Are you following this story as well?

Since I live in a rather rural area and there aren't any groups I could join, I made the decision to make one crochet project just during those evenings watching. I picked a colorful afghan, as I feel the need for some color in this dreary time of year. Here now the beginning of it from last night:

Wonder where this colorful project will lead me. New colors to come during my next viewing session. Looking forward to seeing this project grow as I am being transported to a different time.

Well now that is it from my neck of the woods today. Hope to see you all soon again. Have a wonderful and day everyone!

Countdown

Yes, yes it is that time of the year again and the Countdown to CHRISTMAS begins. Am I ready for it? NO and no again, but it doesn't change the fact it's coming. So we might as well get into the Spirit of things and start somewhere, which I guess would be the beginning.

So today I actually have a little TAH-DAH...... yes, what do you think of that? I finished my first Christmas Present. I can't mention who it is for here, because that person might read my blog, but showing it of I can. So here without further ado:

She loves really bright colors

The Back

I just loved these little buttons

One more look at it

What you think of that green Border?

As finish my little post here, I would like to ask all of you: What is on your needle or needles for the upcoming holiday?

Until the next time my friends........

Merry Christmas / Frohe Weihnachten

Three more days till christmas....wow. the last month has just flown by with so much crafting activity. As of right now I have finally finished all my projects for the holiday. To tell you the truth, in the end I wasn't sure I would do it. I finally gave it a last push and did it. "Yippie". One does feel good when it is all done. Now we can only hope that the recipiants love the made items. Will give you a report after the holiday.

In my previous post I wrote that I was going to start something new, but as the days went by and there was so much left to do, it was postponed more than a few times. For that reason I have decided not to start anything new till the new year. That's something to look forward to, right? I also figured you all are just as busy at this time of the year and will probably not blogging that much right now.

I do have a couple of things to show you today. One I found on my favorite blogs Attic 24 . If you have not checked out her blog yet, you really should do it now. I have made a few of her projects and loved, yes loved, every one of them. She just has a wonderful way about herself. I love her attitude, her humor and her clever ideas. Once you have checked her out, come back here and let me know what you think. Thanks. Well for christmas she has made these crocheted stars and when I saw them I had to try one for myself. And as it goes, you can't just make one. My stack grew and turned into a few little gifts for a few people. Besides the usual white ones I made some red ones as well. They turned out great too. They are now hanging on my neigbors white christmas tree and look beautiful. So....are you now ready for a looksy? Yes you say? Well ok than, here it goes.

Now the red one:

Well....what do you think? You like them? They are super simple to make and certainly worth a try. I have a feeling I will make some more of them in the coming year and I also think I will try them in some other colors, like blue and I saw a yarn that was white with glitter that I liked. If you try and make them, send me picture and let me see how it turned out.

Here is one other project I worked on....a Hat. Just another simple and quick one. Hope you like it.

Now that I have all the christmas crafting done I decided to actually make something for myself. That is something I don't do very often, as I give most of my things away, donate them or sell them in my shop. It's a shawl. I just love the design of it. I decided on the white color. That way you can wear it with many different things. Here is what I have done so far:

You like it? I think I will get it done within the next few days. I will model it for you all after that.

For a last look I thought I show you a little christmas. I tried to take some pictures at night, but must admit they all came out rather blurry and not something to show off.

This will be my last post for this year. The next week will be filled with the holidays. So I would like to wish all of You a very "Merry Christmas" and a "Happy New Year". Here is hoping the holidays will bring you much Cheer and Love. Enjoy all you can with your family and loved ones.

See you in the New Year. Bye for now my friends........
