Introducing and Our Tuesday Question

Good Morning Friends on this last day of August. Now we are heading towards the fall and hopefully cooler temperatures. Personally I am very much looking forward to it, as this has been the hardest summer for me that I can remember. The dogs will be happy too I think.

Today I would also like to introduce you to 3 blogs and I hope you will go visit them and enjoy the beautiful things they are making.

Isolde - Everyday Life

Akelein - Akelein

Jules -  Little Woollie

Now on to our Tuesday Question:

As I am personally a woman a bit on the heavier side, I would also like to make some clothing items for myself. Sadly there are very few good patterns on the Internet for bigger women. Do any of you know of a good site to find some? Also I am curious to know if you might have some advise on how to adjust a regular pattern to a bigger size. I have tried, but it seems my projects always end up smaller than thought or the pattern does not work out. Any tips in this category would be appreciated.

You all have a lovely day now!

Link-Yourself Monday

A new week has started and it is time to get motivated for the week ahead.  Hmmmm....motivation? What is that and where can one find some? Just kidding. After I drink a good cup of Java in the morning, my motivation gets much better. What gets you motivated in the morning?

Thought I would show you some dishcloth that I have made for my shop. They are simple, but functional and with some people very popular. I am in the process of making stacks of them to put in my shop to sell and will make them in a rainbow of colors, so everybody can find some they will like and hopefully use.

So what you think? Would you or are you using this kind of dishcloth in your kitchen?

Will leave you here for today and I hope you all can find your Motivation for the coming week. "Happy Crafting and Happy Monday"

Remembering Hurricane Katrina

Hallo Friends!

Today just a short note to remember Hurricane Katrina and it's victims and survivors. Hard to believe 5 years have past since than.

Do you remember what you were doing that day August 29th, 2005? I remember it well. The day before I had arrived in Dallas Texas for a visit. We stayed in a motel in town and had just returned from a nice German dinner at a Restaurant named Kuby's. As we turned on the TV we were confronted with pictures of the hurricane coming on land in New Orleans. They were not pretty pictures and one could see the devastation right away. How very sad. So many people looking for a place to go and so many people waiting to be rescued.

For days we watched mesmerized how everything was unfolding. Many people were rescued and brought to other bigger cities all over Texas, Alabama, Mississippi and other places. The motel we were staying at was filling up to capacity in a short period of time. Even so this was a terrible experience for these people, they still tried to be positive and trying to look forward to their future. Many would return to New Orleans when they were able to, but many more now live in other places.

Today lets say a prayer for those whose lives were lost and for those who survived we pray they have found a better and safe life. Let's Remember!!!!

Until soon, Erika

What I been up to

Today I have to share something with you all and hope I don't bore you with my personal stuff.

Because of economic reasons I moved back to Mississippi in February of this year. I had previously lived here in Ms. for 10 years and thought my chances would be better back here where I knew more people and was told, were more opportunities. Well, it turned out not to be the case. So what do we do when Life hands us Lemons? We make Lemonade, lol. Therefor I will make another move and this time to Houston Texas. I will be staying with my girlfriend Mausi and am looking forward to that and hopefully many other opportunities. Now I hope you will all cross your fingers for me. It really is exciting on one hand, as I have never been to Houston, but is also a little scary to make such a big move. I think you all know what I mean.

As Mausi is also a crafter, I am looking forward to having someone to share my passion with. It will be nice to share a cup of Java and a crafting idea with someone else close by. Hopefully that will get my crafting mojo flowing again.

So I will be moving this coming weekend and should be back for my Tuesday question next week. Hope you all will be patient with me until than.

Until than you all take Care, have a good week and weekend and I will be looking forward to sharing more crafts and life with you than. Bye for now!!!

Cucumber & Potatoe Soup from Germany

Today I thought I would share a little German Recipe with you all. At the moment many of you have fresh Cucumbers and Potatoes in your gardens and might want to try something a little different. Enjoy!!

Ingredients:

1 medium cucumber
4 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups cold water
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup milk
1 green onion, grated
1 teaspoon dried dill weed
or 1 tablespoon fresh chopped dill

Cooking Directions:

Peel the cucumber and slice it lengthwise. Scoop out seeds with a spoon and discard. Dice cucumber. In a heavy 2 1/2-quart saucepan boil potatoes in salted water until the potatoes are very soft. Pour potatoes and cooking liquid into a sieve or food mill set over a large bowl. Force potatoes through. Return to the saucepan. Stir in pepper, cream, milk, grated onion and the cucumber. Simmer gently about 5 minutes or until the cucumber is tender. Add dill and season to taste. Serve hot.

Sorry I have no picture available to go along.

See you all back tomorrow.......I hope.

Award

Good Morning my Lovely Friends,

Actually I received this a few days ago, but am just now getting around to sharing it with you.

I received the stylish blogger award from huisje9 and I want to say Thank you very much!

So, i need to tell 5 things about myself.....hmmm....

* I love .... LOVE to Travel, love to craft, love taking pictures (still learning how to take a good one, as I am not a natural talent), love spending time with family and real friends.

* I have an online yarn shop (erikascraftscorner.com) that I am still working hard on and am trying to make happen.

* Whenever I get a chance and that is not very often, I love to read a good book. In years past, I was known to read two, three books in a week, but as my eyesight is not as good as it used to be, it has slowed down tremendously.

* Gardening is something else I love to do, but at the moment I do not have a garden and miss very much growing my own vegetables and flowers.

* I like to be a positive person and don´t like negativity, but as we all know, sometimes your surroundings do influence that.

* Oh...and I love my little critters....my dogs, who are always looking for my attention, have giving me so much joy and laughter, and never talk back, lol. (except a little wuff here and there)

I will pass this award on to :

Elaine

Annette

The Sunroom

Clara's Crochet Room

One Yarn  After Another

Well Ladies, that's it from my neck of the woods today. Hope your Day will be bright and cheery!! See you tomorrow.

Tuesday Question and I'm Back!

YES, my Dear Friends....I'm baacckk! Have you missed me? Just a little??

Well you are probably wondering where I have been hiding. Did you think I have been on vacation? Nope, sorry to say it wasn't a vacation. Sometimes Live just takes you on a little detour and unforeseen things come along. I had a bit of Chaos in my personal live, plus my online store had been compromised and I am in the process of rebuilding a super secured store, so this will not happen to me again. A project like that takes an amazing amount of time and patience.I'm not quite finished yet, but it is back online and functional. So now I hope some things will get back to normal and I can get back to concentrating on some new crochet and other craft projects. I really am looking forward to it.

Over the next few days I will show you a few of the things I have been doing and share some other News with you. Hope you can be patient till than.

Would like you all to know also, that in my time away I have been following your blogs and have enjoyed your many wonderful and beautiful craft and vacation stories. Reading what you all had to say has kept me sane. So Thank You All for sharing your work with all of us.

Has it been this hot in your neck of the woods as it has been here in Mississippi? Over the last two weeks we have had nothing but temps in the 100's. WOW! All we had to do is step in front of the door and all you wanted to do, is turn back around and go back in. I used to enjoy summers more and spend much time in the garden, but I have to admit, this has not been one of those summers. Actually looking forward to September and the cooler temps. Does it affect you that way?

Here now is one of the little projects I worked on, nothing fancy or outstanding, but I had to keep my hands busy every once in a while. It's a little scarf and it is being modeled by the granddaughter of my girlfriend.

There are a few other projects I have been working on, but I will share those with you over the next few days.

Am I not CUTE???
My name is Gidget and my mommy loves me very much!

Ok, here now to the Tuesday Question:

How and When did you discover your creative Side? Did another person inspire you or did you pick up your craft in another way? Looking forward to your answers.

That's it from me for today, but many cool things to come in the future, including another give-away. So hope to see you all back here soon. Have a wonderful Tuesday!!
