Flower Inspiration

Today has been a good day....Yes....the kind of day one wishes to have every day. Sunshine, warm weather and some free time to do a little gardening and a little hooking. How much better can it get....I ask? Today I was able to plant some spices and to get my tomato plants bought, which I will plant in the next few days. Here a little looksy at my spices.....

And here now is a little project I have been working on for a couple of hours today. I found the pattern here at  Scotty's Place . She is making these little flowers for an afghan. You should go and take a look......love the colors she has chosen so far and am looking forward to seeing the finished product. I, myself decided I really enjoyed the little flowers, but I am not going to use them to make an afghan, but instead to chain them together, to hang them on the wall of my little office, with my cheerful yellow wall. You should all try the pattern, as it is quite simple to understand and make. I just used yarn I had left over from my afghan I am making. So....would you like to take a little look? Well I don't know....should I really let you see it? You say YES of course.....OK, OK....here they are. Hope you will enjoy them as I did and hope the rest of your evening is filled with fun and enjoyment!

Tutorial # 1

Hallo my Friends on this sunny, but cool Wednesday afternoon. Earlier I took my fresh cup of Hazelnut Coffee outside to the porch and enjoyed this beautiful day, with the birds chirping in the trees, watching them busily building their little nests and looking at the pretty new flowers that are making their first appearance. Everything is so nice and lushisly green again and I was loving the smell of fresh cut grass that wafted passed my nose. For once I was actually not working in the yard today and I was just able to take it all in and enjoy it. We do need to do that every once in a while. I call it retanking once inner strength.

Isn't this rose just beautiful? And you should smell her......Ohhhh, just wonderful!!

Well my friends, I have my first Tutorial for you all today. I hope it is understandable and without mistakes. Please let me know what you think of it or if you should find any mistakes in the pattern. Thank you and enjoy:

This is what it looks like finished:

You will start by chaining 31 stitches.....Row 1
Row 2- skip the first three stitches and make your first dc (double crochet). 1 dc in each stitch across. Chain 4 and turn.

Row 3- 1 dc in 3rd dc of chain, chain 1, skip next dc, 1 dc in next stitch.....repeat this until end of row 3. Chain 3 and turn.

Row 4- 1 dc in each stitch and space across.

Row 5 & 6- Repeat Row 3 and 4.

Row 7- Chain 3, skip next 3 stitches and crochet 1 dc in the stitch = 1 leaning dc made which will serve as base for the coming 3-dc block = chain 3 and crochet 3 dc's over stem of leaning dc just made. Repeat this to end of row. 1 dc in last chain. Chain 4 and turn.

Row 8- 1 dc in last stitch of cluster, which is once again used as the base for the block. Work blocks the same as on Row 7, that is chain 3, then work 3 dc over leaning dc just made. Make 1 last dc in last stitch, chain 6 and turn.

Row 9- Work 1 sc (single crochet) in 4th stitch of block, chain 3, 1 sc in 4th stitch of block and continue until end of Row. Chain 3 and turn.

Row 10- Work 3 dc into each chain and 1 dc into each sc. Continue till end of row. Chain 3 and turn.

Row 11-14 - Continue working these rows the same as in beginning of pattern.

Now just a little close-up of the center of this pattern:

Okay.......I hope this is easy enough to understand, but please do not hesitate to point out to me, what I could do better, as this has been my first tutorial ever.

For today, I will bit you all farewell and hope to see you again soon.......  :-)

Tuesday Question

Another week has passed in a flurry and it seems like yesterday that I wrote my last post. Most of my week has been spend with outdoor activities, which is my favorite kind.....really...no kidding. When the sun is out, I just can't resist enjoying the garden. And yes.....even the work that comes with it, like cutting grass and clipping weeds and bushes. Also I just love, LOVE digging in the dirt. Gloves...what is that? I need to feel the warm dirt run through my fingers. And....ohhhh how good it feels when you see the first sprout lings comes through that dirt. You get that feeling of success and it gets even better when you finally get to harvest what you planted, when it sits on your table as a meal. Do you all love to garden? What is your favorite thing in the summertime?

On to the Tuesday Question:

Since I was talking about the Spring and Summer month, I was curious if your knitting or crocheting habits changed. Like, do you knit or crochet with thinner yarns and make only summer stuff or do you continue to do the same thing year round, no matter the temperature? And what about the colors you use? Do they become lighter in the summer month?

And yes....I actually have been picking up a hook in the evenings again. Maybe not as much as I usually do, but more than I have done in the last couple of month. I have been working on my afghans, the two ripples I have been working on. Do you remember them? Here another little looksy....

With that I will close for today and hope to see you all again soon.....Good Night and I am looking forward to your all's opinions.

Tuesday Question

Hallo my friends......did you think I had disappeared of the face of this earth? It would be understandable if you thought that. Really.....quite understandable, if I do say so myself.

Well, I got to admit, that I seem to have a problem. Someone wisely pointed it out to me and yes, as much as it pains me, I had to admit that that person was right. The problem seems to be, that I have trouble balancing my time between the animals in this house (which I dearly love, as you all know), family (household), friends and my crafts. It seems, since being back in Mississippi, my life has mostly revolved around the animal world (dogs, cats and horses). Everything else has sort of fallen to the wayside. So, HOW do I fix this problem. Anybody have any suggestions? How do you find that perfect balance? Or is there such a thing? Do we just have different priorities at times or is it something else?

Well....on to the Tuesday question:

If you could knit, crochet or sew anywhere in the world, where would it be? Italy? Spain? Also please let me know why you would choose that place.

Here now a few images from my Spring Garden. Don't you just love all the little flowers in the Spring? Have you planted anything yet? Maybe a vegetable garden? Flowerbeds?

Have a nice evening and see you hopefully soon. Just so you all know, while not writing much myself, I have been browsing your all's blogs and promise to leave comments again shortly. Take Care!
