"RED" is In

Wow, it's already Wednesday again, or over the Hump day as some call it.

Right now I am working on a few different projects. A lot of it has to do with the way I work. I have three patients I take care of. I am a caregiver for Cancer or Alzheimer patients. One I stay with every night, seven days a week. The next one I have three days a week for a few hours during the day and the last one for a couple of hours about four days a week. So you see it is kind of crazy, but I love what I do.

This schedule in general does not leave much time for my favorite past time crocheting or crafting, but I work on my things whenever I can sneak in a little time during working hours or when I do have some time actually at home.

On my night time shift I am currently working on an afghan for myself. Most of the things I make I always either give away or sell at craft shows. So it is kind of nice to actually be making something I will be able to enjoy. I thought I would give you all a little preview on how that is moving along. It isn't a fancy afghan, but a simple ripple in red and white.

It's slow going with just a few rows every night, but it's coming along and will look pretty in my home pretty soon I hope.

Now I am wishing you all a wonderful day and I will see you all soon again!

Tuesday Question & another Square

Good Morning Friends! In my neck of the woods it has been raining buckets. Not that I like it much, but we so badly need it. Hopefully we won't get the icy precipitation that might pass over us or not. A repeat after last week would not be to much fun.

Now to our weekly Tuesday Question. Honestly I am running out of Questions for the moment. Who would have thought? So friends, please come and help me out. Someone got to have a question we could all work on the answers for. Please e-mail me at erika@erikascraftscorner.com and share the question with us. Hope to hear from many of you. Thanks!

So for today I will ask you all, what do you love or not love about Pinterest? Who uses it for inspiration? And how much time do you spend looking at crafts?

As for my square this week, I found it on Pinterest and really liked it, but when I tried to follow the link for the pattern, it send me to ravelry. Usually you can find the pattern there, but not this time. So I went ahead and blew up the picture so I could see it in better view and went ahead with creating it. I think it came out ok, but I would say it wasn't the correct pattern, but close enough.

The yarn is a 4-ply cotton in peach
(looks pink on the picture)

I do think the whole in the middle got a little to big.
I used 8 beginning chains,
probably should have used 6 instead.

I left the yarn connected as I have decided to continue for more
rounds and turning it into a square doily.
Will show you when it's finished.

Alright, that's it from me for today. Hope you all stop by for the Questions and otherwise enjoy the rest of your day. Until soon!

Link-Yourself Monday & the Letter "H"

Once again the weekend is over. Sadly! Not that it matters much in my case, since I work pretty much seven days a week. But I hope you all had a good one. We did have a pretty one around here, with lots of sunshine. Saturday evening I was driving home in the evening, when I saw I field that looked white as snow and I realized they were all Geese. What a beautiful sight. Some of the were flighing north, so I do hope it means Spring is coming soon. Not that we can really complain around here, since they have so much snow and cold up north. Than this morning I was driving home again and what do I see? About 10 wild Turkeys and a bunch of deer grazing in a field. Those are the pretty things about living in the country.

So here we are. It is Link-Yourself Monday. We would love to see what pretty things you have made over the last week. So Please share!

Today we have the letter "H". I must admit that it is not easy finding crafts for every letter in the alphabet, but I am trying. So for the letter "H" I have decided on Hangers. Here now are a few excamples of some wonderful creations. Hope you like them.

Just love the rainbow of colors

The finished product

Isn't this one pretty with the shell design?

How about with some added flowers?

For this one I found a tutorial here

Would like to wish all of you a good start into the new week. Hope you find many crafty things to enjoy.

Blog-Love Friday

Yesterday we had an Ice Storm blowing through our area. I guess the roads were to warm to freeze, but our trees, cars and roofs were covered in icicles. Many heavy branches broke from the weight of the Ice and our Power went out for a few hours. As yucky as an ice storm is for people who have to be out in it, the beauty of it all amazes me. The trees almost looked like silver blinking in the light. I took a few pictures with my phone and thought I share them with you.

Today I will share four more blogs that I love and find noteworthy. Hope you enjoy my picks and also that you will go visit them, leave a little comment, let them know you stopped by and spread the Love.

First I like to share "Hopscotch Lane" with you. (http://www.http://hopscotchlane.blogspot.com)
Sorry but blogger will not let me add the link (which is upsetting me at the moment).

You will enjoy her many colorful and beautiful crochet and crafts.

Second blog to make the list is: "Creative Design by Sheila" (http://www.sheilazachariae.blogspot.com)
You will love this Crocodile Stitch Shawl and many other pretty designs.

Number three today is "My World of Crochet". (http://my-world-of-colours.blogspot.com) The Blog is in German, but I think everybody can appreciate her wonderful stuff and maybe even translate it.

Last but not least, please take a looksy at this next blog. Many of you might already know her, but for those who don't, you will love her many pretty things. "One Yarn After Another".

Hope you enjoyed today"s selections and lease come back next week for a few more noteworthy Blogs. In the meantime I hope you all have a wonderful weekend ahead!

As a last note I want to say that I am still frustrated over the fact that blogger will not let me link anything. Hopefully it will be fixed for my next post. Ok, finished ranting.

Hot Pad, Potholder or Dishcloth

Good Morning Friends,

It's gray and overcast in my neck of the woods and ice is in the forecast. Not really something to look forward to, but maybe we get lucky and it misses us all together. One can hope.

Well that don't stop me from sharing something I made yesterday with you all. It has many different uses and we all use them every day in some way or another: The Hot Pad, Potholder or the washcloth. For some reason I always enjoy making them and keep coming back to them. Hope you enjoy this one. Pattern follows.

I keep having this problem of my pictures turning when I upload them
to blogger. In my picture file they appear in the correct position.
Anybody able to tell me what I am doing wrong?

The Tuesday Question & a new Square

Good Morning my lovely Friends. Tuesday has come around again and with it the "Tuesday Question". I am hoping to hear some answer from you all. The Information can be good for all of us. Thanks!

As I am planning on joining a few craft shows this spring and summer, I am interested to find out how many of you have participated in craft shows and what kind of tips and tricks you have learned. What do I need to look out for? Have you noticed what kind of crafts sell the best? How important is location? How important is the set up?

Please share your experiences with the rest of us!

Today's Square: It's a Heart within a Square and crocheted in two different colors. Hope you like it.

Talk to you all again soon. Happy Tuesday!

Link-Yourself Monday & the letter "G"

Wow, it's Monday again. Here is hoping you all had a wonderful weekend! Mine was filled with working extra hours and than sadly with a toothache from you know where. Yuck, is all I can say. But feeling better today, so for that I am grateful.

Today we have rain in the forecast and it is super windy. As I was driving home from work this morning, I thought my Van wanted to lift of the ground or I was driving drunk down the road. Yup, that's windy.

With it being Monday, it's time for all you lovely Ladies to Link Yourself and show us all the beautiful things you have been making over the last week. Have Fun!

Now to the letter "G". I had to think over this one. Couldn't think of to many crafts that start with that letter. Hmmmm? So I picked "Gardening Crafts". What other crafts can you think of?

This is such a simple craft.
Just take Terra Cotta pots and
paint the rim with chalk paint,
than write whats in the pot.

Just love these glass decorations.
Go to the nearest flee market and purchase
glass vases or cups.
With glue #6000 glue the pieces together
as you like them to show.
So much fun to make and can be as colorful as you like.

Another simple craft.
Use and recycle old tires by cleaning them and
than painted them with exterior paint, stacking them, filling
them with potting soil and your favorite flowering plants.
Just a little something to cheer up any yard.

Last but not least - Little greenhouse
All you need to to is take a clear plastic bottle
cut off the top and put over your little
seedlings and watch them grow.

I have made all four examples and have to say that they all work and are fun to make. So give it a try.

"Happy Monday" everyone!!

Something different ..... Sewing, you say??

Looking out of my window, it doesn't look like it is going to be a pretty day. No Sun, just sprinkles. I guess today will be a day to do some indoor activities. Maybe some more sewing?

Yes, I have been doing a few sewing projects and I thought I would show you the first one in a line of things I have on my sewing table.

This is a bag to make baked potatoes in the microwave. I really love it. It was simple to make for a beginner like me. The finished bag comes in really handy and I do love how the potatoes come out of the microwave. They don't have that hard crust on the bottom, like you get if you just stick them in the microwave with a paper towel.

Love the pretty flower fabric

Here a view of the little pocket
you slide the potatoes in

Another view

Thought I would leave you with a little picture of
Miss Sisi Kitty!
Doesn't she look pissed off?
Wonder what she is thinking?

You all have a lovely day now and see you again soon!

Tuesday Question & ????

Good Morning! Here we are on another Tuesday. The week has just flown by.

Here now our Tuesday Question:

Do you ever feel like you want to make a difference with your crafts, but don't know how?  There are so many charities out there which need help, but which one do you choose? Than what would you want to make and how many different items? Do they really help the people it is intended for?

So many Questions. And yes I ask them often. What do you all think about this? Your answer would be appreciated and of Interest to me. Thanks!

I would now also like to invite you to help with the "Tuesday Question". Please send me an e-mail with a question you have or a topic that is of interest to you. We will post this question on one of our Tuesdays. Hope to hear from you all!

In honor of Valentines day in two days, I decided to crochet another Heart instead of a square. Well the Heart really started with a Square, a granny square and was turned into a heart. It now has joined my collection of other coasters around my house. Hope you like it.

See the little Square in the center?

Here a view of my two Hearts together

On this cloudy Tuesday, I wish you all farewell for today. Hope to see you next time. Make it a good day!

Link-Up Monday and the letter "F"

Good Monday morning Friends! Hope you had a wonderful weekend.

In my neck of the woods the sun is shining, the skies are blue and the daffodil's are perking their little heads out of the ground. So to me it looks like it will be a good day. But than again, any day the sun shines is a good day for me. Didn't realize how much I love the sun, but it sure seems to effect my mood.

Well since it is Monday again, today is the day you can add your link here. Show us your beautiful works. I always to love to look at all the wonderful stuff you are making.

As to the letter "F", it stands today for Felting. Have you worked with Felt before? And what have you made? I recently bought some Felt and am planning to use it shortly. Here are some of my favorite finds on Pinterest.

Couldn't find a link for
this one

Are these Cute?
They look simple enough to make

Have a Heart

Just love these Ladybugs
You can find the pattern here

Some little flowers

See you all again soon. Have a good start to the week!
