Something different

Hallo again! Hope this finds you well.

Lately I have been in the mood to try my hands at new things, including painting and Quilting, maybe even some Jewelry making. There are so many beautiful crafts out there and I been feeling like I am stuck in a rut and am not trying new experiences. Do you ever feel like that?

Well to start off with I played a little with my paint brushes and this is what was the end result. Needs a lot more work, but I am pleased with the results. It now hangs in my living room.

Until soon my friends!

Countdown

Yes, yes it is that time of the year again and the Countdown to CHRISTMAS begins. Am I ready for it? NO and no again, but it doesn't change the fact it's coming. So we might as well get into the Spirit of things and start somewhere, which I guess would be the beginning.

So today I actually have a little TAH-DAH...... yes, what do you think of that? I finished my first Christmas Present. I can't mention who it is for here, because that person might read my blog, but showing it of I can. So here without further ado:

She loves really bright colors

What you think of that green Border?

As finish my little post here, I would like to ask all of you: What is on your needle or needles for the upcoming holiday?

Until the next time my friends........

Walk for the Cure

Last weekend I went with a group of friends to Little Rock to walk in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Wowww what an experience that was and one I will repeat next year. The sight of all these women and yes men as well, was awesome. I still see PINK in front of my eyes. It is wonderful to know so many people care about this worthy Cause. If you get the chance, participate. You won't regret it.

There were many supporters on the side of the road cheering everybody on, passing out beads, water, bananas and more.

It also made me realize how out of shape I really am. My legs were killing me afterwards. Over the last week I have been walking every morning with a neighbor and it felt good. It sure makes a difference to walk with someone else and makes it easier. Instant encouragement. Well I plan on keeping it up!

Here a few more pictures from around Little Rock:

See you all on the Flipside!!!

Sweet Potato Cauliflower Soup

Fall is in the air and YES I am so ready for it. This summer has been hard on me. Some people love and I mean love that hot weather. I am not one of them. Autumn officially starts this weekend and I am looking forward to the colors of fall, the changing of the leaves and the crisp night air. The only thing I don't like about fall and winter are the much shorter days. But we can't have it all.

This time of the year makes me think more again about those comfort foods, like soups and casseroles. With that said I thought I would share a soup recipe with you all. It is absolutely yummy. Enjoy!!

Sweet Potato Cauliflower Soup
  • 1 large head cauliflower (the one I used was at least 7″ in diameter
  • olive oil for drizzling
  • Few dashes garam masala (optional)
  • 3 medium to large sized peeled sweet potatoes, cut into 1″ pieces
  • 1 sweet onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 7 cups filtered water
First, preheat your oven to 400 °F and cut up your cauliflower into bite sized pieces. Sprinkle cauliflower lightly with garam masala. Place cauliflower onto ungreased cookie sheet and lightly drizzle with olive oil. Place in oven and let roast until golden brown on the tops and tender, but not mushy, about 20-30 minutes. There’s no need to flip ‘em. Just remove from oven and let cool while you cook the rest of the soup.
In large stockpot, bring sweet potato, onion, garlic and water to a boil. Salt (abt 3/4 tsp) and stir. Reduce heat and allow to remain at a constant simmer until sweet potatoes are tender. Add in cooked cauliflower and divide soup into 2 parts.
Let soup cool and then blend one part soup in blender until very smooth. Combine with second part soup and stir. Salt to taste and warm up over stovetop if needed.

Return to Blogging or Yes, I am Back!

Hallo Everybody!! It's been almost a full year since I wrote a blog post. Wow, can't believe it has been that long.

As it so often goes in Life, the real world intrudes and makes other things more important, which was the Case with me. My working life consumed most of my time, not leaving much time outside of that for more than taking care of my household and my pets. I did crochet of and on during that time, but nothing major or big. But that's ok. Sometimes we need a break from something to make it more enticing later on.

I also noticed that I was getting much to serious about blogging and with that was taking the fun out of it. I put pressure on myself to come up with something new all the time. The problem with that is, that you really don't come up with much new.

Well recently a crafting friend of mine came back to her own blog with renewed vigor and wow is she turning out some beautiful stuff. You can check her out here! We had talked about how many blogs were disappearing and how sad that was. She said I should come back. So ok......here I am. Only this time it is going to be for the fun of it and I will post when it is possible for me or when I have something good to talk about or share.

Hope you will all come back and enjoy what I have to share with you all. See you on the flipside!

For about the last three weeks I started working on a granny square afghan. For now I am just working on the basic squares in many different colors. I want it to real pop with color. Later I will add the border color with which I will join them together. Here what I have done so far:

So now this is it for my first post back. Hope you liked what I showed you and you will come back! Until next time......
