Merry Christmas / Frohe Weihnachten

Three more days till christmas....wow. the last month has just flown by with so much crafting activity. As of right now I have finally finished all my projects for the holiday. To tell you the truth, in the end I wasn't sure I would do it. I finally gave it a last push and did it. "Yippie". One does feel good when it is all done. Now we can only hope that the recipiants love the made items. Will give you a report after the holiday.

In my previous post I wrote that I was going to start something new, but as the days went by and there was so much left to do, it was postponed more than a few times. For that reason I have decided not to start anything new till the new year. That's something to look forward to, right? I also figured you all are just as busy at this time of the year and will probably not blogging that much right now.

I do have a couple of things to show you today. One I found on my favorite blogs Attic 24 . If you have not checked out her blog yet, you really should do it now. I have made a few of her projects and loved, yes loved, every one of them. She just has a wonderful way about herself. I love her attitude, her humor and her clever ideas. Once you have checked her out, come back here and let me know what you think. Thanks. Well for christmas she has made these crocheted stars and when I saw them I had to try one for myself. And as it goes, you can't just make one. My stack grew and turned into a few little gifts for a few people. Besides the usual white ones I made some red ones as well. They turned out great too. They are now hanging on my neigbors white christmas tree and look beautiful. So....are you now ready for a looksy? Yes you say? Well ok than, here it goes.

Now the red one:

Well....what do you think? You like them? They are super simple to make and certainly worth a try. I have a feeling I will make some more of them in the coming year and I also think I will try them in some other colors, like blue and I saw a yarn that was white with glitter that I liked. If you try and make them, send me picture and let me see how it turned out.

Here is one other project I worked on....a Hat. Just another simple and quick one. Hope you like it.

Now that I have all the christmas crafting done I decided to actually make something for myself. That is something I don't do very often, as I give most of my things away, donate them or sell them in my shop. It's a shawl. I just love the design of it. I decided on the white color. That way you can wear it with many different things. Here is what I have done so far:

You like it? I think I will get it done within the next few days. I will model it for you all after that.

For a last look I thought I show you a little christmas. I tried to take some pictures at night, but must admit they all came out rather blurry and not something to show off.

This will be my last post for this year. The next week will be filled with the holidays. So I would like to wish all of You a very "Merry Christmas" and a "Happy New Year". Here is hoping the holidays will bring you much Cheer and Love. Enjoy all you can with your family and loved ones.

See you in the New Year. Bye for now my friends........

Give-Away

"Happy Monday Morning"

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are now ready to start the new week. Make yours a good one!

If you have read my old blog, you most likely have seen that I have a give-away. Have you send in your entry yet? NO.....well there is still time to do so. So what are you waiting for? You can send me your entry until Dec. 31, 2009. Waiting to hear from all of you!

I thought you might like to see what you can do with the yarn I am giving away, so I decided to just make a quick scarf. It is nothing fancy, but I hope you can see the way it looks. The yarn is nice to work with. It is soft to the touch and a little thicker, so it works up fast. Here is a look for you all:

Now this is my favorite model. Isn't he cute. And he wears that scarf so proudly. He rewarded me with a smile. What more could a girl ask for?

Well that's it for me for today, but please come back tomorrow when I will start something new on my blog, plus I will show you some more of my WIP's and also reveal something I made on sunday. Hope to hear from you. Please leave me a comment. Thanks!

Saturday Ramblings

Hope you are all having a good saturday morning so far!

Do you ever have one of those days where nothing wants to go your way and everything irritates you? I am sure you have. Well yesterday I had one of those days. I was ready to crawl back into bed and start the day over or sleep until the next day. But we all know, that is never quite possible and so we truck on and forward and try to make the best of it.

In the evening I decided I needed some quiet and ME time. First I took a hot bath, which was followed by a good cup of Hot Chocolate. At that time I decided I needed to just sit and crochet and it needed to be something that didn't take a lot of thought or counting. I figured the best thing to make was a quick hat in a simple pattern. One can never have enough hats at this time of the year and since I always seem to give away the ones I have already made, I wanted one to keep my own little ears warm. So here it is, yippie, all finished. Made my evening. It's also in my favorite color, which is red. You all want to see it? Well ok than, here it comes......

Forgive the light in my house, it is just never the best.

Well? What do you all think? Did it come out alright? Nothing fancy, as I said, but it will do the job.

Would you all like the pattern for this simple hat? Yes you said. Ok than, here it is:

Materials:
Yarn: 1 Skein TLC Baby Amore or another yarn you like
Color: Red (shown)
Hook: H (5 mm)
Stitch markers
Tapestry needle
Pattern: (Cap is made in a spiral)
Ch 3, join with sl st to form a ring. Mark the beginning of each round.
Rnd 1: Work 12 dc into ring (12 dc), chain 3 (they will count as one and first stitch on each round)
Rnd 2: *2 dc into next st. Repeat from * around (24 dc)
Rnd 3: *dc into next dc, 2 dc into next dc. Repeat from * around (36 dc)
Rnd 4: *dc into next 2dc, 2 dc into next dc. Repeat from * around (48 dc)
Rnd 5: *dc into next 3dc, 2dc into next dc, Repeat from * around (60 dc)
Continue adding rounds until the diameter of your circle is 5” to 5 ¼” for an average women’s
head and 5 ½” to 6” for a larger head.

Rnd 6: Continue working dc in each dc until desired length is achieved (Approximately 7 to 7.5
inches)
Last Round – Half Double Crochet (HDC)
At end of last round sl (slip stitch) in next 2 dc. Fasten off and weave ends in with tapestry
needle or if you like a border, which I did, than chain 3, skip 3 stitches, sl, st, continue till end of round

next round: single crochet, 3 dc and one more single crochet in each loop. Continue till end of round.
than fasten off and weave in ends.

Any questions, let me know.

Ok, now off to get the day going. Hoping the rain will stay away. Make your day wonderful as well and we will see each other soon again.

My other Blog & more

Hallo Friends,

Until now I had a blog on another site. (http://blog.erikascraftscorner.com). What I noticed is, that I was not very visible and people weren't finding me. So, for that reason I switched to Blogger. Hopefully I will now be able to connect to many other crafters and to the community that I love. In the meantime you can still check out my old blog at the given link. Hope to meet many nice people here to exchange ideas.

This morning I was looking through my stash of yarn, which is really quite a bit, to see what I could attempt to make next. I realized that I had collected more yarn than I thought and was trying to figure out, what yarn I bought for what project. Can't say that I remembered most of it. Which brought me to the conclusion that I needed to learn the fine art of "Stash Busting", which means to learn to use the yarn I had already purchased. My problem is that when I go to the local yarn shop for something I need, I see this pretty yarn or that pretty yarn and could I not make something with this yarn. And so the Stash keeps growing. So my resolution for the new year will be to avoid the yarn store at all costs and work on making it a dwindeling Stash. Think it will work? I guess only time will tell, but one can at least attempt to do so, right??

My other project for today is to figure out how to add pictures here. You all want to see pictures, right? Wouldn't be any fun without pictures to see what I am actually working on. So off I go to get my day moving with some coffee and lots of ideas in my head. Talk to you all tomorrow. Have a wonderful day

Erika

Welcome to my little corner of the world. I've been toying with blogging for a while, but wasn't sure I was a good enough writer to do so. My friends disagreed and so here I am. Besides if I could find a network of other crafters who would be interested inwhat I'm doing, then I could conceivably stop harassing my non-craftingfriends and family who currently have to pretend that they care about my crafting, yarn and my other crazy escapades.

It all started when I was 6 years old. My grandmother, a seamstress, was always working on one thing or another. One day I asked her to teach me how to crochet and so began my crafting life. Over the years I have tried my hand at many different crafts, but my favorite to this day is crocheting.

Now I hope you will all enjoy my blog and bare with me as I muddle my way through these beginning stages. "Happy Crafting".
